L'histoire de l'Hôtel de France*** Nantes

Overlooking the Loire and Nantes’ port, the Hotel de France*** Nantes is a true institution in the famous Graslin district, right in the centre of the city.

It was at the end of the 18th century that the wealthy Jean Joseph Louis Graslin launched a huge land project that would bear his name. Very near the Hotel de France*** Nantes, the Place Graslin, designed by Mathurin Crucy, is dominated by the monumental Opéra Graslin with a facade made up of 8 columns on which eight statues of muses stand.

The Hotel de France*** Nantes is a perfect example of French “hôtels de charme” with its rooms decorated in the Louis XVI style.
The Hotel de France*** Nantes is a building full of history and came out of the inheritance of the Graslin family's descendents.  It has been classified by the city to preserve its important character in the city’s heritage.
