Famous for its marshes, la medieval city of Guérande, classified as a City of Art and History, is a must-visit location on the Côte d’Amour, in the heart of Parc Naturel Régional de Brière. The landscape of this fresh-water marshy area has cottages, streams and small islands, which you can explore on foot, in a horse-drawn carriage or in chalands (flat-bottom boats). The Guérand Tourist Office offers boat and carriage rides, for learning all the secrets of this park with exceptional flora and fauna... The salt marshes of Guérande extend over more than 1000 hectares, where you will meet 250 traditional salt workers who harvest more than 12,000 tonnes of salt per year.
