Ile de Nantes, a former naval brownfield, is Nantes’ great urban development project. To the west of the Ile, in the former naval shipyard sheds, the 12-metre-high Elephant takes on passengers for a trip to the island; every time this behemoth goes out, it is a unique spectacle for everyone. At the end of the Ile, the Banana Hangar has restaurants, bars, and exhibitions, and is a place for strolling and relaxing, opposite Butte Sainte-Anne and very close to Island Machins.
