From yesterday to tomorrow: From SOFIBRA to Oceania Hotels
A true entrepreneur, François Branellec invests in the hotel business starting in the 1970s by creating the SOFIBRA company. After going from one opportunity to the next, the group sets itself up in the Breton hotel world.
In the late 1980s, SOFIBRA SA develops the brand names “Mascotte”, “Océania”, 2- and 3-star hotels, and, “B&B”, the chain of budget hotels whose success is now well-known.
In 2003, SOFIBRA separates from the brand name “B&B”. Gurvan Branellec takes over from his father to give a new impulse to the group.
The year 2006 marks a turning point in the group’s history. After 30 years of existence, SOFIBRA gives itself a new signature by becoming “Oceania Hotels”, thereby consolidating its group image, and it reorganises its line around 3 brands: “Escale Oceania”, “Oceania” and “Oceania Style”.
And tomorrow?... Oceania Hotels wants to become a group recognised for the quality of its hotels, services and staff. The group also wants to grow, but always in a controlled manner, in order to retain its main strong point: Its human size and its closeness to its partners, its clients and suppliers.
