Biarritz et sa région : Great Tips

I love the Basque coast, because for me it's the true "Paradise" Biarrot, surprising us by the beauty of its landscapes and its complexity.

At low tide, the sea gives way to a beautiful sandy beach where swimmers, surfers and walkers coexist in the same space ...

At high tide, the beach is covered with water and let the power of projecting rollers against the rocks, offering an amazing spectacle as impressive.

This place offers an idyllic setting, where we discover the beauty of the horizon, the mountains through the surrounding villages.

In addition to being the most beautiful natural site of Biarritz, the Basques coast is a very lively spot during winter and summer with surfing courses, concerts and Casetas highly anticipated by the locals is a sort of giant cocktail organized by bars in the city where tourists and Biarrots mix for 5 nights of friendliness and good atmosphere!

If it’s your first time in Biarritz, I often recommend starting from the Grande Plage, where a promenade awaits you and leads you to Biarritz’s different beginnings; it takes you by the Port de Pêcheur, the Rocher de la Vierge, where you have a magnificent view of the whole Basque coast and the mountains, and then you end up by the Old Port’s beach. Then come back through the Old Port’s streets, which are the liveliest parts (outside paellas in the summer, etc.).

If you want to try Basque cooking, it’s the place you have to try; the staff is really nice and the food there is excellent. They have a main set menu for 20 euros with 5 choices of starters, main dishes and desserts, and you can taste the sublime Basque AXOA, or foie gras from the remarkable Landes area. There is no better place to discover what Basque pintxos really are as in San Sebastian. A colourful atmosphere with both locals and tourists. Some very good wines associated with their sublime culinary creations. For fans of rugby history, it’s the right place to learn everything about it. The owner is a local legend with a sturdy mood...

Located in the heart of Les Halles district, it’s a friendly place run by Fred, a local fellow. It’s a place where the locals meet to start the evening or have dinner in good company. Benat, the chef, prepares his dishes of the day depending on what is available from the market. The place is full of passion when a Biarritz Olympique match is on.

A Biarritz institution par excellence. We’ve all worked there, either in the dining room or the kitchen. A menu that never goes out of style. The giant paellas shared with friends are a real good time spent together.  Some evenings you can even hear Basque songs...if you’re lucky.
